The number one way most people choose to protect themselves from the flu is by getting a flu shot. Flu shots are great at protecting people from the flu, most of the time. Those who are over the age of 65, have underlying medical conditions, or are pregnant, will likely want to take this approach to protecting themselves from the flu. Personal Hygiene

A more traditional way of protecting yourself from the flu is via personal hygiene. You can focus on this method, whether you get the flu shot or not. Overall, this is just the practice of having good personal hygiene in order to avoid the germs of others. You really can't completely avoid the germs, but you can make it more difficult for them to get in your body. One thing you can do is wash your hand multiple times a day. Washing your hands before eating is a great habit to form. You also should avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose. If you do this, you will be less likely to take in the germs.
