Depressives Try Color Therapy
In the continuing quest for new treatments some people who suffer from depression are trying a radical new suggestion. They are trying color meditation. This is known as the study of colorgenics. This encompasses the belief that colors are associated very closely with how a person feels and so since different colors affect people in different ways. This could mean that what we wear and the colors of the rooms we live in have an impact on our day-to-day lives.

Those natural healers who believe that those with depression should try anything open to them believe strongly that different colors have varying effects. Therefore they feel that methods must be found to allow color mediation or color therapy. Yellow is the best color for those suffering from depression. It is believed to stimulate a person's psychological abilities and to help them feel more positive about themselves and their surroundings. That is why yellow is such a good color for those who fight depression. Green and blue are said to give off a calming feeling. Green does this because it is a color of the earth. Red is a strong color. It stimulates a person and so has very different uses. Violet, a soft purple, is supposed to be a color that enhances kindness

Some colorgenics therapists believe that shining certain lights on those you are trying to deal with various conditions will make a big difference. They feel that if a person can simply focus on certain colors of light that the healing power of those colors will help them. These therapists especially promote the use of white light, as it is believed to have many healing powers for the body. It is felt to not only be able to balance a person's system but to cleanse it as well. Many of those who believe in color as a healer feel that shining lights, of various colors, at and around the person who is meditating puts the power of these colors at their disposal to use to improve how they feel.
Others feel that the best way to heal with colors is to meditate. The person sits in a quiet room focused on the color that will bring them what they are looking for, in this case to ease the depression, and concentrates on healing their body through the power of that color. The people who teach this type of meditation are often referred to as energy healers.
When you think about the colors that are chosen for hospitals and child care centers there seems to be some logic to this. Hospitals use calming colors while places for children use bright colors to stimulate. Neither of these choices is accidental. So when you look at the possibility that color and meditation together could work for those who are suffering from depression, or other difficulties, do not be so fast to laugh it off. Others having been using colors for years to the same affect it just is not done so openly.
